Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a feature that provides an extra layer of security to help protect your account. This feature works with both Nexon Home (Nexon.com) and Launcher in combination with an Authenticator App. When 2FA is enabled, each time your log in you must also enter a 6-digit Authenticator code.
To learn more about 2FA, watch our video “How To Protect Your Nexon Account” on YouTube (see below).
For details about using 2FA, such as enabling and disabling the feature and how to generate and use backup codes, see the information below.

Important: To use 2FA you must log in to your Nexon account with an email address. Social logins bypass both 2FA and trusted device verification. If you do not have an email account, you can create one from your social link by setting a password for your Nexon account. |
Enabling 2FA
The following steps are for users with an existing email account.
To enable 2FA and activate Authenticator App:
- Log in to your Nexon account using your email address.
Note: If logging in with a social link, log out, and then log in again using your email address. - From either My Account (Home) or the NexonTag menu (Launcher), click Account Settings.
- Select Password & Security.
- Under Security, find Authenticator App, and then click Enable.
The Verify Your Account window is displayed and a confirmation email is sent to your address. - Enter the verification code from the email.
The Enable Authenticator window is displayed. - Follow the on-screen instructions.
An Authenticator Successfully Enabled message appears. - Do one of the following:
- Click Generate Backup Codes to create 10, 8-digit backup code now (recommended). Alternately, you can generate these later, see Generating backup codes.
- Click Close to go to your Nexon account.
- Click Generate Backup Codes to create 10, 8-digit backup code now (recommended). Alternately, you can generate these later, see Generating backup codes.
2FA for your account is now enabled and your Authenticator account is activated. Each time your log in you must also enter a 6-digit Authenticator code.
Note: If you frequently use the same personal device to access your account, you can select the option to remember your device, which temporarily bypasses the Authenticator code. This option is not recommended for public or shared devices.
Disabling 2FA
Disabling 2FA deactivates your Authenticator account and disconnects your Nexon account from the Authenticator App.
To disable 2FA and deactivate Authenticator App:
- Log in to your Nexon account with your email address.
- From either My Account (Home) or the NexonTag menu (Launcher), click Account Settings.
- Select Password & Security.
- Under Security, find Authenticator App, and then click Disable.
- Click Disable.
- Enter the 6-digit Authenticator code.
2FA for your account is now disabled and your Authenticator account is deactivated.
While you can enable 2FA again at any time, you cannot reuse your previous Authenticator account; instead, you must add and activate a new one.
Generating backup codes
Backup codes are 8-digit, single-use codes used in place of an Authenticator code. Once you use a backup code, it is invalidated. Also, after you generate new backup codes, all previously generated codes, whether used or not, are also invalidated.
To generate backup codes:
- Log in to your Nexon account with your email address.
- From either My Account (Home) or the NexonTag menu (Launcher), click Account Settings.
- Select Password & Security.
- Under Security, find Authenticator App, and then click Get Backup Codes.
- Enter your password, and then click Get Backup Codes.
A set of 10 backup codes is created. - Click Download to save the codes locally on your computer.
You can now use these single-use backup codes as needed.
Using backup codes
Note: If you are using a backup code because your 2FA device is no longer usable (lost, stolen, broken), you should disable 2FA to deactivate the Authenticator App on your old device, and then enable 2FA on your new/replacement device and generate new backup codes.
- Log in to your Nexon account with your email address.
- From the Verify Your Account window, click the Use another method link, located toward the lower part of the window.
- Click Backup code.
- (Optional) Select the Remember this device option if using a personal device that you trust.
- Enter an 8-digit backup code. If you see an error message, try a different code.
Tip: Since backup codes become invalid after one use, you should notate which codes you have used to avoid error messages.
